Microsoft has quietly intimated a selected group of users via email about the upcoming Private Beta program for Service Pack 1 release of Office 2010 and SharePoint 2010. The invitation does not assure that the recipients are included in the program.

The email recipients have to fill out a form showing their intention to be a beta tester for Office 2010 Service Pack 1 and then Microsoft Office team will review the application and decide if the applicant gets the exclusive opportunity of participating the Private Beta program or not.

Service Pack 1 for Office 2010 and SharePoint 2010 is basically the first major upgrade to the latest released Office suite and same is the case with SharePoint 2010. Although notification email to users has already been sent out, the actual beginning of the Beta program is likely to start by the end of 2010 or early 2011.

This also implies that Service Pack 1 for Office 2010 and Sharepoint 2010 should be out by mid 2011.
